Clubs in BA (by Arielle Taft)
Traveling in Latin America is popular for European and American natives since many destinations are cheaper than our homelands.
However, as I have learned from first-hand experience, Argentina is a rare exception, especially Buenos Aires. Buenos Aires is dubbed “The Paris of Latin America” for precisely this reason (and a few more I’m sure). Taxi rides, club cover charges, and extremely expensive clothing are just a few items that’ll make your pesos disappear faster than a rabbit in a hat magic trick. I have many friends in the area so they helped me make the most out of my weekend with my tight budget. The following clubs were by far the best I’ve been to in a while.
Thursday:
Go to Hip Hop Culture Club to experience the biggest Hip Hop party in Buenos Aires. Call Augusto if you have any problems at the door: 11 3298 4000. Don’t worry that you don’t know him, once you meet him he will treat you like an old friend and make sure you get into the club and have the best experience possible. If you are lucky, you will see the weekly break-dancing competition, which is pretty impressive.
Friday:
LOST is definitely an Argentine crowd, mixed in with a few students studying abroad. But at Crobar I met people from almost every continent in a matter of hours. People are beautiful at this place, so you do not want to wear sneakers and a baseball cap. A nice buttoned down shirt and nice shoes for men, and a nice skirt or dress is a good option for ladies.
Saturday:
Terrazas is beautiful and classy, and I would describe the people in attendance in a similar fashion. Wear your most stylish clubbing attire and you won’t be sorry. I love the large patio area and there is a bar in each dance area, with separate soundtracks, so you never get bored of the music and never have to wait to get a drink. This is one of my favorite clubs ever; I would go back every week if I could.
Between these three clubs, you will have experienced the entirety of club culture in Buenos Aires.
Remember that clubs in general open later and close later than in th EU and USA, so take a nap before you leave for the night and prepare to stay out until you see the sunrise! For the best drinks to pregame the clubs, I would suggest looking at the facebook pages for each club, as the promotors have pregames at different bars around the city every week where they give out free VIP passes, and sometimes free welcome shots! All of the partnering bars will have discounted drink specials, so it’s surely worth a try.
Have a wonderful weekend, hope this helps!
